The Avtomaticheskiy Pistolet Stechkina (Stechkin Automatic Pistol) is a pistol that appears in Survarium.

Background

Originally entering service in 1951 alongside the Makarov pistol, the APS was intended to be used by artillery and tank crewmen as well as aircraft personnel. Due to its lack of power in comparison to the bulkiness of it and its stock, it was eventually replaced by the AKS-74U carbine assault rifle.

Overview

The APS is currently the highest level sidearm in Survarium, available at the fourth Fringe Settlers rank of "Pathfinder". It performs similarly to most other pistols with the key exception being that it is also capable of fully-automatic fire. In addition to this it has the largest magazine size for a sidearm, almost double that of the Fort 17, and also has the fastest reload time. This makes it an excellent sidearm for snipers as it provides a good amount of close-range firepower.

Its main downside is that it has significantly more recoil than other pistols, making it difficult to control in fully-automatic fire. It also has a slightly shorter damage dropoff range of 30 metres and it is the heaviest pistol available, slightly more so than the Colt Python.
