The Ruchnoy Pulemyot Kalashnikova model 1974 Modernizirovanniy (Kalashnikov Light Machine gun, model 1974, Modernized) is a light machine gun that appears in Survarium.

Background

Originally introduced in 1974, along with the AK-74, the RPK-74 was intended to be a squad support weapon with an increased effective range and sustained fire capability. Notably, it features a longer, heavier barrel and heavyweight receiver. The "Modernized" version features lighter polymer furniture, along with a side-folding stock and side-rail for optics. It continues to see use in Russia and neighbouring countries.

Overview

The RPK-74M is a high-tier light machine gun, available from the Fringe Settlers at their sixth rank, "Elder". Compared to the lower-level RPD, it features higher damage and lower armor penetration, bringing it closer in line with most assault rifles. It also features the same high first shot accuracy, comparable to some battle rifles.

Its most notable difference when compared to other LMGs is that its magazine is less than half the size at 45 rounds (though still larger than most other weapons). However, it is significantly lighter than other LMGs and only somewhat heavier than some assault rifles. This means that the RPK is a much more mobile option, offering a mix of assault and suppressive capabilities.
