The Snayperskaya Vintovka Dragunova (Dragunov Sniper Rifle), is a semi-automatic sniper rifle that appears in Survarium.

Background

The SVD was designed as part of a contest for a new sniper rifle by Yevgeny Dragunov. At the time, it was observed that long-range engagement ability was lacking after the adoption of submachine guns and assault rifles, so a new rifle was needed for the designated marksmen in infantry squads. After extensive field testing, the SVD was selected as the victor and adopted into the Soviet Armed Forces in 1963.

Overview

In Survarium, the SVD is a high-tier sniper rifle available from the Renaissance Army at their seventh rank, "Captain". It is unique in that it is the only high damage semi-automatic sniper rifle currently available. It has slightly less damage than bolt-actions like the SV-98, but it has equivalent armor penetration and accuracy. Its only major downside is its weight, which is heavier than most sniper rifles but still lighter than the SV-98.
